Wilder Landscapes Officer
We're looking for a Wilder Landscapes Officer to help drive landscape-scale nature recovery across the Trent and Erewash area of southern Derbyshire through rewilding and nature-based solutions.
In this role, you'll support the development and delivery of our landscape rewilding programme, working with landowners, communities and partner organisations to create more connected and resilient landscapes for wildlife. You'll contribute to exciting species recovery projects, including our Willington Beavers Project and White Stork Restoration Project, while helping shape future opportunities for large herbivore grazing across the landscape.
You'll build and support networks that enable people to take action for nature, develop rewilding and species recovery plans, and help secure funding and partnerships that deliver long-term impact for both people and wildlife. You'll also support community engagement, volunteering and green skills opportunities, ensuring that more people can access and benefit from nature-rich spaces.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Be passionate about nature's recovery and the role rewilding can play in creating lasting change.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with landowners, communities, partner organisations and colleagues.
- Be proactive and organised, with the ability to turn ideas and opportunities into practical action.
- Communicate confidently and inspire others to get involved in nature recovery.
- Balance strategic thinking with hands-on project delivery.
- Be motivated by creating positive outcomes for both people and wildlife.
- Be comfortable working flexibly, with occasional early starts, evenings and weekends to support project delivery and community engagement activities.

Experience we're looking for:
This role might be right for you if:
- You have experience developing and delivering projects, ideally within a conservation or environmental setting.
- You have practical experience of land management for nature conservation and working safely with volunteers.
- You understand rewilding principles and nature-based solutions and can apply them in practice.
- You have experience preparing and delivering management plans and adapting approaches based on evidence and learning.
- You are a confident communicator who can build strong relationships with partners, landowners, communities and colleagues.
- You have a good understanding of ecology, conservation and agri-environment schemes.
- You are experienced in monitoring and evaluating projects to demonstrate impact.
- You have knowledge of funding opportunities, grants or income generation.
- You are highly organised, self-motivated and focused on delivering outcomes.
- You are ambitious for nature's recovery and inspired by the opportunity to create transformational change for people and wildlife.
- You hold a full UK driving licence.

Flexible working:
We are happy to talk flexible working!
This role will be based at our office in Middleton although a balance of home and office working will be allowed. We are a local charity so applicants should be easily able to access our office and other locations around the county.
