Wind Energy Research Intern – AI & Offshore Wind O&M

Role Overview
Aerosyn AI is looking for a Wind Energy Research Intern based in Oxford to support research and early product development for our AI-driven wind energy platform.
This 3-month internship is ideal for a master’s student or recent master’s graduate with a strong interest in wind energy, renewable energy systems, AI, data analysis, and operations & maintenance.
The intern will help us research key challenges in wind farm operations, especially around turbine performance, downtime, maintenance, environmental risk, anomaly detection, and AI-assisted decision-making for O&M teams.
About Aerosyn AI
Aerosyn AI is an Oxford-based AI startup developing intelligent tools for wind energy operations and maintenance. Our work focuses on combining turbine data, maintenance information, environmental signals, and AI workflows to help wind farm operators detect risks earlier, reduce downtime, and make better operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
The intern will support work across research, analysis, and product insight, including:
- Researching key challenges in onshore and offshore wind operations and maintenance
- Studying how wind farm operators monitor turbine health, reliability, downtime, and performance
- Analysing publicly available reports, datasets, research papers, and industry case studies
- Supporting research on SCADA data, turbine faults, anomaly detection, drift analysis, and predictive maintenance
- Exploring how AI, machine learning, and agentic workflows can improve wind O&M decision-making
- Helping define important dashboard KPIs for asset managers, operators, and maintenance teams
- Supporting competitor and market research across wind energy software platforms
- Preparing short research summaries, insight reports, and presentation materials
- Working closely with the Aerosyn AI team to shape early product ideas and proof-of-concept features

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Is based in or near Oxford
- Has completed or is currently studying a master’s degree
- Has strong interest in wind energy, offshore wind, renewable energy, clean technology, or energy systems
- Has a genuine interest in AI, machine learning, data analytics, or digital tools for energy
- Can read and summarise technical research clearly
- Is comfortable working independently in an early-stage startup environment
- Has good written communication and research skills
- Is curious, proactive, and willing to learn quickly, which is apparently still legal in the modern workplace

Useful Skills
The following would be helpful, but not mandatory:
- Knowledge of wind turbines, renewable energy systems, or energy asset management
- Understanding of SCADA data, condition monitoring, or predictive maintenance
- Experience with Python, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or data analysis tools
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, LLMs, RAG, or agent-based workflows
- Experience writing research reports, literature reviews, or market analysis
- Interest in offshore wind O&M, environmental risk, or geospatial data
