About the role

Based at our Birmingham Service Centre, you'll work from one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in the UK. Opened in 2021 following a major investment, this 82,000 sq. ft purpose-built Centre of Excellence has been designed around lean manufacturing principles and is equipped with cutting-edge digital technologies, advanced machining capabilities, and state-of-the-art additive manufacturing.

Operating 24/7, the site delivers world-class maintenance, repair, and overhaul solutions for pumps, motors, generators, compressors, turbines, and other critical rotating equipment across a wide range of industries.

Due to continued growth, we're looking for a skilled Winder/Fitter to join our team.

As a Winder/Fitter, you will play a key role in the repair, refurbishment, manufacture, and assembly of electrical rotating equipment and components, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out winding, fitting, and assembly activities on a range of electrical equipment.
  • Manufacturing and installing coils and windings to specification.
  • Stripping, inspecting, and rebuilding motors, generators, and associated equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Supporting electrical and mechanical testing activities.
  • Identifying faults and assisting with repair solutions.
  • Maintaining high levels of quality, housekeeping, and safety within the workshop.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and best practice across the business.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in an engineering, fitting, manufacturing, or repair environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Wire winding experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience working on motors, generators, or other rotating equipment.
  • Coil manufacturing or rewind experience.
  • Electrical testing knowledge and experience.
  • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.
