Role Overview
We are looking for experienced Winders to support major projects across Ireland.
The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out winding, assembly, inspection, repair, and maintenance activities on large rotating electrical equipment, with particular focus on synchronous condensers, generators, motors, and associated plant.
This role would suit experienced winders who have worked within power generation, heavy electrical engineering, substations, synchronous condenser installations, generator projects, or similar industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out winding and rewinding activities on large electrical rotating equipment.
- Install, form, fit, and secure stator and rotor windings in accordance with project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
- Assist with the assembly and installation of synchronous condensers, generators, motors, and associated equipment.
- Remove existing windings and prepare cores and components for rewinding or refurbishment.
- Carry out coil installation, insulation, blocking, bracing, wedging, lacing, and connection work.
- Complete electrical connections, brazing, and termination activities where required.
- Assist with testing and inspection of windings, including insulation resistance and continuity checks.
- Identify defects, damage, or abnormalities within windings and electrical components.
- Read and work from electrical drawings, winding diagrams, technical instructions, and manufacturer documentation.
- Use specialist winding tools, measuring equipment, and electrical test equipment safely and correctly.
- Work closely with mechanical fitters, electrical fitters, supervisors, commissioning engineers, and other site personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, inspections, and testing.
- Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards and project programme.
- Follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Participate in toolbox talks, RAMS reviews, and site safety briefings.
- Maintain a clean and organized working area throughout installation and maintenance activities.

Experience Required
- Previous experience working as a Winder, Electrical Winder, Coil Winder, or Generator Winder.
- Strong experience with large motors, generators, synchronous condensers, or other rotating electrical equipment.
- Experience with stator and/or rotor winding activities.
- Good understanding of electrical insulation systems and winding construction.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and winding diagrams.
- Experience working on power generation, energy, heavy industrial, or major electrical infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Experience on synchronous condenser projects would be a significant advantage.
- Ability to work safely within a multidisciplinary site team.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications / Certifications
- Candidates should ideally hold relevant electrical, winding, or engineering qualifications.
- Depending on the project and site requirements, candidates may also be required to hold:
- Safe Pass
- Manual Handling
- Working at Heights
- MEWP
- Abrasive Wheels
- Relevant electrical or engineering trade qualification
- Other project-specific safety certification
Candidate Profile
We are looking for winders who are reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working on technically demanding electrical projects. Candidates should be able to work effectively as part of a wider installation and commissioning team while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Previous experience working on synchronous condensers, generators, large motors, turbines, or similar rotating machinery will be particularly relevant.
Project Environment
The role will form part of the workforce supporting major projects in Ireland, working alongside mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, lifting, and supervisory personnel during installation, assembly, testing, and commissioning activities.
The project may involve extended working hours, shutdown periods, and project-based rotations depending on site requirements.
