MERITUS are recruiting for a DV Cleared Windows Engineer to join our client in Stevenage in an initial 12-month contract to work on Infrastructure projects. YOU MUST HAVE LIVE DV.

WINDOWS ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - £74.32 PER HOUR (£549.96 PER DAY) - STEVENAGE, ONSITE - VIRTUALISATION - 12 MONTHS - DV CLEARED - SECTOR: DEFENCE

Digital Excellence function providing IT Services to the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational BAU support, administration & configuration management across Infrastructure and Workplace Windows Environments in restricted secret & above networks.
  • Responsible for maintaining a good working knowledge of the business IT environment.
  • Planning & coordinating maintenance and patching across the Windows Environments in restricted secret & above networks.
  • Access & implement changes to the restricted Windows Environment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Creation, maintenance & audit of inventory information and asset registers as required.
  • Creation, maintenance & review of comprehensive, high-quality documentation as required.
  • Creation & maintenance of standard problem resolution & fix documentation, to ensure any technical knowledge bases are kept up to date.
  • Responsible for resolution of incidents related to Windows Services across restricted secret & above networks in line with agreed SLAs, following escalation processes as appropriate.
  • Acting as Tier 2 / Tier 3 support for Windows related issues & problem resolution, performing incident response, investigation & remediation within SLA timeframes.
  • Co-ordinate with incident & Technical managers, following incident management process during high-severity incidents.
  • Identify underlying root causes of reoccurring incidents, assisting in implementation of long-term solutions.
  • Actively participate in lessons learned activities, conducting thorough root cause analysis, and documenting findings, as part of continuous improvement cycle.
  • Responsible for ensuring update and closure of all incidents & requests assigned to team queue in accordance to SLA.
  • Stay current with any developments in Windows technologies, products, practices and trends.
  • Support with monitoring and alerting across restricted secret & above networks. Responding proactively to alerts & implementing threshold and health-based remediation actions as appropriate.
  • Monitor and optimise network/server performance, security, and backups.
  • Ensure compliance with security guidance and best practice in line with adopted security postures.
  • Interface with agreed 3rd party service providers for assistance & technical support, troubleshooting and network management and also to provide technical guidance to the 3rd party suppliers.
  • Bring forward key issues, changes & topics to service meetings for discussion.
  • Participate in Cross-functional Team Collaboration as required.
  • 100% site-based role due to nature of network.

  • Must hold DV clearance.
  • Experienced Windows Engineer, must be a generalist with ability to work comfortably across both Infrastructure & Workplace.
  • Hands-on skills & in-depth expertise across Windows Server, Windows OS, and Desktop Applications, Virtualisation Platforms including VDI, Storage Solutions, AD & Access Management.
  • Knowledge of networking principles, and excellent troubleshooting skills.
