About the Role
As a Junior Windows Infrastructure Engineer, you will join our Infrastructure Operations team and support the delivery, maintenance, and improvement of enterprise Windows platforms. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will help ensure the availability, performance, and security of business-critical infrastructure while developing your technical skills across both on-premises and cloud environments.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies, virtualization platforms, automation tools, and modern infrastructure practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the administration, maintenance, and support of Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Support core infrastructure services including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, IIS, Remote Desktop Services, and Certificate Services.
- Help monitor and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Assist with infrastructure projects, system upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh activities.
- Learn and contribute to PowerShell scripting and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues under the guidance of senior engineers and participate in incident resolution activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and follow established ITIL service management processes.
- Support Azure infrastructure services and develop cloud administration skills.
Skills We Can't Do Without
- Basic hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, or 2022), gained through employment, internships, apprenticeships, or personal projects.
- Understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems and server administration fundamentals.
- Foundation-level experience with PowerShell scripting or a willingness to develop automation skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies.
Skills We'd Like
- Exposure to VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or other virtualization technologies.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure services.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Defender, Intune, MECM/SCCM, WSUS, or related endpoint management tools.
- Understanding of version control systems such as Git.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps, Ansible, or other automation and configuration management tools.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications or a desire to pursue technical certifications.

Additional Requirements
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance.
- Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rota once appropriately trained.
- Occasional out-of-hours support may be required for planned maintenance and critical incidents.
- Location: UK-based, with remote work option.
