Majestic Wine Chelmsford is looking for a dynamic, ambitious, and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join our team on a 14-hour per week contract. The Role
As a 14-Hour Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the store team and driving the day-to-day operations of our Chelmsford branch. You will deliver market-leading customer service, help meet sales KPIs, and serve as a true brand ambassador. From offering tailored recommendations to delivering orders in our store van, no two shifts are the same!
Job Details
- Contract: Permanent – Part-Time
- Hours: 14 Hours per Week (Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends)
- Salary: £9,252.88 per annum (Pro Rata)
- Location: Chelmsford, Essex
- Licence Requirement: Full UK Manual Driving Licence (Held 12+ months)
Key Responsibilities
- Customer First: Deliver an exceptional, VIP concierge service to every customer—actively following up on product updates, recommendations, and store tastings.
- Drive Performance: Maximise sales opportunities and support the team in meeting and exceeding store targets and KPIs.
- Storytelling Over Discounting: Share your genuine passion for our product range by selling the story and quality behind our wines rather than relying on discounts.
- Product Knowledge: Actively build your wine expertise, taking advantage of fully funded WSET training to boost your confidence on the shop floor.
- Store Excellence: Take pride in maintaining high standards for the physical appearance of the store, both internally and externally.
- Daily Operations: Handle key store operations, including stock delivery merchandising, customer outreach, and local wine deliveries in the company van.
- Keyholder Duties: Act as a trusted keyholder, confidently opening, running, and closing the store in line with compliance procedures when required.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify operational improvements and share ideas with the manager and team.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure complete adherence to safety, legal, and operational policies, completing all mandatory training.

Knowledge & Skills Required
- Driving Licence (Essential): Must hold a full UK manual driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points, and feel comfortable driving a company delivery van.
- Wine Passion: Prior wine knowledge is a bonus, but an enthusiastic drive to learn and achieve your WSET Level 2 qualification is essential.
- Customer Focus: Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer experiences and build long-term customer loyalty.
- Flexibility & Initiative: A proactive can-do attitude, self-motivation when working solo or in a team, and adaptability to meet busy retail demands.
- Key Skills: Excellent time management, communication, delegation, and problem-solving abilities.
