Role Overview
As a WINTEL Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing, deploying, and maintaining Windows-based infrastructure platforms within a highly regulated environment. You'll contribute to the full lifecycle of enterprise services, ensuring systems are operational, secure, and optimised.
What you'll be doing
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Server platforms (2012R2, 2016, and newer) across large enterprise settings.
- Managing essential Microsoft services such as Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange, SQL, WSUS, PKI, DNS, DHCP, and supporting applications.
- Administering and supporting Windows environments in virtualised infrastructures, particularly with VMware or Hyper-V.
- Performing system patching, backups, restores, and troubleshooting to maintain system health.
- Producing detailed technical documentation, including design artefacts, build guides, and operational procedures.
- Supporting system integration, testing, and commissioning activities, ensuring all services meet operational and security standards.
- Working collaboratively with service management teams to investigate incidents, resolve issues, and optimise service delivery.
- Contributing to continual improvement initiatives through automation and standardisation.

Who we're looking for
Essential Skills:
- Significant experience with Windows Server environments (2012R2, 2016, 2019, 2022) in enterprise and secure settings.
- Proven expertise managing Active Directory, Group Policy, and MS enterprise services such as PKI, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, and SQL.
- Extensive experience supporting Windows environments within virtualised platforms, VMware or Hyper-V.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell.
- Ability to produce comprehensive technical documentation.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities, analytical thinking, and clear communication.
- Understanding of ITIL service management principles.
- Active SC clearance.

Desirable Skills
- Experience within Defence or other sensitive public sector contexts.
- Knowledge of additional virtualisation platforms and tools.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals and Cisco technologies.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and Atlassian tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, ITIL).
Contract Details
- Location: Corsham, Wiltshire
- Onsite: 4 days per week
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: Until 31 March 2028
- Day Rate: Up to £600 (inside IR35)
- Hours: 8 hours per day
