Company Description

The Skiers Lounge is a professional ski and snowboard workshop and bootfitting service based just south of Gatwick and Horsham on the A24 in West Sussex. The showroom offers specialized advice, equipment, and services for winter sports enthusiasts of all levels. Team members work closely with customers to help them choose the right gear and benefit from expert bootfitting support. The environment is hands-on, customer-focused, and centered around a passion for skiing and snowboarding. Applicants can expect to join a small, dedicated team serving a loyal local and destination customer base.

Role Description

The Winter Sports Showroom Team Member is a temporary, on-site role based in Horsham. This position involves welcoming customers, discussing their winter sports needs, and guiding them toward appropriate skis, snowboards, boots, and accessories. Daily tasks include:

  • Providing product demonstrations
  • Supporting bootfitting appointments
  • Maintaining well-organized and clean showroom displays
  • Handling basic sales transactions

Team members assist with stock checks, pricing, and merchandising, while ensuring every visitor receives friendly, informative service. The role may also involve answering phone and email inquiries, helping prepare equipment for workshop services, and supporting the team during busy seasonal periods.

Qualifications

  • Customer service and communication skills, including the ability to listen carefully, explain technical information clearly, and interact positively with a wide range of visitors.
  • Interest in or experience with winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding, with a willingness to learn about equipment, bootfitting basics, and product features.
  • Retail or showroom experience, including handling transactions, assisting with merchandising, and maintaining a tidy, welcoming environment.
  • Basic organizational and problem-solving skills, including managing multiple customer requests, prioritizing tasks, and following instructions accurately.
  • Comfort with using point-of-sale systems and simple digital tools (e.g., email, online booking, product lookups).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, move stock safely, and work flexible hours during peak winter sports season, including weekends.
  • Collaborative approach and reliability, with a professional attitude and commitment to a respectful, inclusive workplace.
  • Previous experience in sports retail, outdoor equipment, or specialty footwear fitting is beneficial but not required; training will be provided.

Contract

  • Type: Fixed-term seasonal
  • Period: October 2026 to early April 2027
  • Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
  • Usual working hours: 10am–5pm, Monday to Friday
  • Location: The Skiers Lounge, near Horsham, West Sussex
  • Salary: Dependent on experience; Living Wage Employer
  • Holiday: Paid holiday accrued at the equivalent of 28 days per full year
  • Staff Purchase Programme: After probationary period

There may be some flexibility around working hours and the precise start and finish dates for the right candidate.
