Electrical Wireman

Nationwide | Immediate Opportunities in Scotland

£32.12 per hour for first 37 hours | Up to £33.87 per hour thereafter

Full-time | Contract

DCS Engineering are currently looking to engage and work with experienced Electrical Wiremen, Electrical Fitters, and Electrical Technicians to support upcoming electrical installation projects across the UK.

We have current openings across substation projects in Scotland but the project pipeline is really strong across the UK, so we are really keen to engage with experienced Wiremen across the United Kingdom.

This is an excellent opportunity for electrically qualified individuals with experience in substation panels, electrical installation, wiring, switchgear, or similar power-sector environments, looking to secure long-term project opportunities across the UK.

Projects operate on 50 hours per week, working 10-hour shifts.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carrying out electrical installation and wiring activities within a site team.
  • Working on substation panels and associated electrical equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and project documentation.
  • Carrying out wiring activities in accordance with project specifications and approved procedures.
  • Marking up drawings and documentation where required.
  • Completing allocated task cards and installation activities within agreed timescales.
  • Working alongside Chargehands, Site Supervisors, and wider site teams to deliver project requirements.
  • Complying with all site health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and ensuring work is completed to relevant industry standards.
  • Identifying and communicating potential issues or delays to site management.
  • Working effectively both as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Supporting the safe and efficient delivery of electrical installation activities across power and infrastructure projects.

  • Electrically qualified with relevant electrical installation experience.
  • Minimum 1 year's experience working on substation panels, or 2 years' experience working on similar equipment within power generation, oil & gas, utilities, or construction environments.
  • Previous experience within substations, power transmission, power distribution, or the wider electricity supply industry is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with electrical wiring, panels, switchgear, or associated electrical installation activities.
  • CSCS Card or CCNSG Safety Passport.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications.
  • Manual Handling and Working at Height training.
  • Fire Safety awareness.
  • Experience working within a high-voltage/substation environment is advantageous.
  • National Grid, SSE, Scottish Power/SPEN, or similar client experience is highly desirable.
  • BESC, NSI6, and/or NSI8 experience is advantageous.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and working within a site team.
  • Willingness to work nationwide as project requirements develop.
