JOB TITLE: Wiring Technician
ABOUT THE ROLE
A BRIEF SUMMARY
As a Wiring Technician at Gravity Media UK, you will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and ongoing delivery of broadcast cable infrastructure across our Outside Broadcast (OB) fleet and fly-pack operations. Reporting to the Head of Technology – Outside Broadcast, you will support the engineering teams in ensuring our technical facilities are built, maintained, and operated to the highest standards. Your work will contribute directly to the successful delivery of world-class live sports, entertainment, and broadcast productions, ensuring reliability, quality, and operational excellence across all projects.

- Weekly hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Reporting to: Head of Technology – OB
- Role type: Full-time, permanent
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Install, terminate, and test audio, video, data, fibre, and control cabling across Gravity Media’s Outside Broadcast fleet and fly-pack systems, under the direction of the Technology and Engineering teams.
- Manufacture, modify, repair, and label bespoke broadcast cables and looms to support operational and engineering requirements.
- Support new vehicle builds, refurbishments, technology refresh programmes, system integrations, and major engineering projects across the Outside Broadcast fleet and fly-pack operations.
- Provide on-site wiring and cabling support for major live events, including the installation, modification, and fault-finding of temporary broadcast infrastructure.
- Work closely with the Head of Maintenance to identify cost-saving opportunities through the repair, refurbishment, and re-use of existing cabling and materials, maximising value and reducing waste.
- Assist with stock management of cable, connectors, and consumables, ensuring appropriate inventory levels are maintained.
- Ensure all wiring work is completed to the highest standards of workmanship, in accordance with company engineering standards and health and safety requirements.
- Develop, mentor, and deliver practical training to junior technicians and apprentices, promoting best practice in broadcast wiring techniques, cable manufacture, and workshop standards.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU

- Have significant experience in broadcast wiring practices, including audio, video, data, fibre optic, multipin, coaxial, and basic electrical wiring (formal electrical certification is not required).
- Are proficient in reading and interpreting wiring schedules, technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation, with the ability to accurately implement designs.
- Take pride in producing high-quality workmanship with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining engineering standards.
- Are organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively as part of a wider engineering team.

CONSIDERATIONS
As part of the interview process, shortlisted candidates will be required to demonstrate a range of practical broadcast wiring techniques and cable termination skills. All tools, equipment, materials, required for the practical assessment will be provided by Gravity Media UK.
