About The Role

The Nigel Wright Group is seeking a proactive and skilled Digital Web Developer to join its marketing team. This is a hands-on position focused on the development, optimisation, and ongoing enhancement of the company's public-facing websites. The successful candidate will work closely with marketing stakeholders to implement improvements, develop new functionalities, and ensure the websites align with broader strategic objectives. The role demands a delivery-oriented mindset, with ownership of development tasks from initial concept through to deployment. Key responsibilities include:

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a passion for web development, with qualifications including:

  • Proven experience with WordPress, PHP, and front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • A solid understanding of SEO principles and how they influence web development and design
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working in cloud-based or modern infrastructure environments is desirable but not essential
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and maintaining WordPress websites, ensuring they are performant, scalable, and optimised for SEO
  • Supporting the delivery and implementation of SEO strategies aimed at increasing web traffic and enhancing client conversion rates
  • Building responsive, user-friendly web pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Collaborating with marketing stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective web solutions
  • Proactively identifying areas for website improvement and recommending innovative enhancements
  • Ensuring websites are optimised for speed, usability, and mobile responsiveness
  • Participating in ongoing innovation initiatives and continuous improvement projects
  • Working closely with internal IT teams when necessary to support infrastructure and deployment processes
