About The Role

Ripple Recruitment Ltd has partnered with a dynamic digital agency based in Basingstoke to seek a talented WordPress Developer. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of an expanding development team within a collaborative and design-led environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating high-performing, visually compelling websites and web applications by translating digital concepts into functional realities. Working closely with designers and experienced developers, the role involves building bespoke WordPress themes and plugins, ensuring responsive design, and maintaining website performance and security. The position is hybrid, requiring approximately two days onsite per week, making it ideal for candidates within commuting distance to Basingstoke who have access to a vehicle.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in WordPress development, including theme and plugin customization.
  • Strong understanding of front-end technologies, responsive design principles, and modern development tools.
  • Proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, SCSS, and TypeScript.
  • Experience working with databases such as MySQL or SQL.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and working within Linux-based environments.
  • Ability to write clean, scalable code and troubleshoot technical issues efficiently.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Build, customize, and maintain bespoke WordPress themes and plugins to meet client specifications and project requirements.
  • Translate design wireframes into responsive, cross-browser compatible websites that offer optimal user experience.
  • Write clean, scalable, and efficient code using PHP, JavaScript, SCSS, and TypeScript.
  • Optimize database queries to enhance website performance and reliability, ensuring fast load times and smooth user interactions.
  • Support deployment processes, manage AWS cloud infrastructure, and configure Linux servers to ensure secure and reliable hosting environments.
  • Identify and troubleshoot functional issues, implementing effective fixes promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Stay updated on the latest web development trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve technical skills and project outcomes.
