About The Role

Ripple Recruitment Ltd has partnered with a dynamic digital agency based in Basingstoke, seeking a talented WordPress Developer to expand their development team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative, design-led environment where your technical skills and creativity will directly impact the development of high-performing, visually compelling websites and web applications. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with designers and senior developers to translate digital concepts into functional, user-friendly websites. The position is hybrid, requiring approximately two days a week onsite, making it ideal for candidates residing within a reasonable commute distance to Basingstoke and having access to a vehicle.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in WordPress development, including building custom themes and plugins.
  • Strong knowledge of responsive web design principles and front-end frameworks.
  • Proficiency in editing and debugging using IDEs such as Visual Studio Code.
  • Solid understanding of database interaction, particularly with MySQL or SQL.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and working in a Linux-based environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end tooling, including SCSS and TypeScript.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in web development is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build, customize, and maintain bespoke WordPress themes and plugins to meet client specifications and project requirements.
  • Translate design wireframes into responsive, cross-browser compatible websites that deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Write clean, scalable, and efficient code using PHP, JavaScript, SCSS, and TypeScript, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
  • Optimize database queries to enhance website performance and ensure reliability across platforms.
  • Support deployment processes, including managing AWS and Linux server configurations to facilitate smooth releases and updates.
  • Troubleshoot functional issues promptly, implementing effective fixes and improvements to maintain website integrity.
  • Stay informed of the latest web technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continually enhance development skills and project outcomes.
