About us
Peregrine Livefoods is one of the UK’s most respected specialist suppliers for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, breeding fresh livefood on our Essex farm every day. We’re growing the e-commerce team behind Livefoods Direct and looking for a Performance Marketing Manager to drive efficient customer acquisition and revenue through paid media.
About the Role
You'll own day-to-day development across our WordPress/WooCommerce trade and consumer sites and our internal web tools. You'll work closely with our Senior Web Developer and ERP Developer. The work covers storefront and plugin development, WooCommerce customisation, tracking, and internal tools that connect to Syspro ERP and our other business systems.
What you'll do
- Develop, maintain and improve several WordPress/WooCommerce sites, including our own custom plugins
- Extend WooCommerce: trade and tiered pricing, customer groups, delivery-date and courier logic, subscriptions and recurring orders, bulk ordering and reorder tools
- Build internal web tools, such as sales order entry and other staff-facing front-ends over ERP and business data
- Build and maintain integrations using Flowgear, REST APIs and webhooks, connecting WooCommerce, Syspro, courier platforms and marketing tools
- Own tracking: the GA4 e-commerce data layer and GTM containers, kept clean across production and staging and checked after every release
- Ship every change through our release process (Git, semantic versioning, changelogs, staging first), one-line fixes included
- Write and optimise MySQL for product data, reporting, bulk updates, imports and feeds
- Test core, theme and plugin updates on staging, and triage and fix site issues
- Own front-end quality: responsive layouts, Core Web Vitals, page speed and accessibility
- Build landing pages, campaign assets and on-page SEO changes briefed by our Digital Trading Manager

What you'll bring
- 3+ years' commercial WordPress development, including at least 2 years on WooCommerce
- Strong PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
- Experience with high-SKU B2C e-commerce, including subscription models
- Real WooCommerce development, not just plugin configuration: hooks, filters, custom endpoints and your own plugins
- Disciplined Git habits (branches, meaningful commits, versioned releases) and comfort working staging-first
- Confident SQL beyond basic SELECTs: joins, aggregates and careful bulk updates
- Working knowledge of GA4 e-commerce events and data layer implementation
- The ability to work independently, prioritise across several brands, and explain technical trade-offs to non-technical colleagues
Nice to have
- Google Tag Manager: containers, triggers, cross-domain and consent setup
- ERP integration experience (Syspro ideally, but SAP, Dynamics or NetSuite count) or iPaaS tools like Flowgear, Zapier or Make
- WooCommerce Subscriptions or other recurring-order tools
- UX/CRO experience: wireframing, A/B testing, acting on analytics
- Hosting and server admin, deployments, backups and security hardening
- WPML, multisite or multi-brand setups, and marketplace feeds (Amazon, eBay)
Please note before applying
This role needs you in our Ongar office, It also needs hands-on WooCommerce development at the hooks-and-filters level and solid Git and staging-first discipline. These are essential, not a bonus.

Due to our rural location you must be able to get to site. There is no public transport in our area.

Salary
£40,000 per annum
