About The Role
Ripple Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a dynamic digital agency based in Basingstoke to find a talented WordPress Developer to join their expanding development team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative, design-led environment where your contributions will directly influence the creation of high-performing, visually compelling websites and web applications. The ideal candidate will work closely with designers and experienced developers to translate digital concepts into functional, user-friendly websites. This position adopts a hybrid working model, requiring approximately two days onsite each week, making it suitable for candidates within reasonable commuting distance to Basingstoke who have access to a vehicle. The successful applicant will be instrumental in building bespoke WordPress themes, developing plugins, and supporting the agency’s mission to deliver innovative digital solutions.

Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in WordPress development, including theme and plugin creation.
- Strong understanding of responsive web design principles and front-end frameworks.
- Proficiency in using IDEs such as Visual Studio Code for editing and debugging code.
- Solid grasp of database interactions, particularly with MySQL or SQL, and familiarity with cloud platforms, especially AWS.
- Comfort working within a Linux-based environment and exposure to modern front-end tooling such as SCSS and TypeScript are highly desirable.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to contribute innovative ideas.
Responsibilities
- Build, customise, and maintain bespoke WordPress themes and plugins to meet client specifications.
- Translate design wireframes into responsive, cross-browser compatible websites ensuring optimal user experience across devices.
- Write clean, scalable, and efficient code using PHP, JavaScript, SCSS, and TypeScript.
- Optimize database queries to enhance website performance and reliability.
- Support deployment processes and manage AWS and Linux server configurations to ensure smooth operation and security.
- Troubleshoot functional issues promptly and implement effective fixes to maintain website integrity.
- Stay informed about the latest web technologies, best practices, and tools to continuously improve development processes.
