About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior WordPress Developer to join our client’s dynamic team on a fully remote basis within the UK. This role is ideal for an experienced full-stack developer with a strong emphasis on backend development, particularly within the WordPress ecosystem. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and intranet pages, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability. This position offers an initial six-week contract starting from June 16th, with the potential for extension based on project requirements and performance. The role is outside IR35, providing flexibility and clarity in contract terms.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in PHP development, with strong knowledge of WordPress and related frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of Laravel, CakePHP, and other PHP-based frameworks.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, JQuery, CSS (including SCSS), and front-end development best practices.
  • Experience working with Docker, WSL/Ubuntu, Nginx, and MySQL for development and deployment.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint or ShortPoint intranet pages is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a consultative approach to development.
  • Previous experience working on remote projects within the UK is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins to meet client specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable web solutions.
  • Optimize website performance, security, and user experience across platforms.
  • Assist in the migration and deployment of web applications using Docker and Nginx.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members when necessary.
  • Engage with clients or stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions that align with their objectives.
  • Ensure all development work adheres to project deadlines and quality standards.
