About The Role

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Digital Web Developer to join our dynamic marketing team. This is a hands-on role focused on the development, optimisation, and ongoing enhancement of our public-facing websites. As a core member of the digital team, you will work directly with marketing stakeholders to implement improvements, develop new functionalities, and ensure our websites align with the company’s broader strategic objectives. Your role will involve taking ownership of development tasks from conceptualisation through to deployment, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and performance-optimized web solutions.

The primary focus will be on WordPress-based websites, with responsibilities including performance optimisation, SEO integration, and responsive design. You will collaborate closely with marketing to translate business requirements into effective web solutions, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and contribute to innovation initiatives. This role requires a mix of technical expertise, creativity, and a keen understanding of user experience principles. The role is predominantly office-based, requiring attendance 4-5 days per week to facilitate close collaboration with the marketing team and other internal stakeholders. The salary for this position is up to £35,000.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in web development with relevant experience in WordPress and PHP. You should possess solid skills in core front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with a keen eye for detail and performance. A proven understanding of SEO principles and their application to web development is essential. Familiarity with software engineering best practices, version control systems such as Git, and CI/CD pipelines will be advantageous. Exposure to cloud-based or modern infrastructure environments is desirable but not mandatory. You should demonstrate a proactive mindset, a passion for continuous learning, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance WordPress-based websites with a focus on performance, scalability, and SEO best practices.
  • Support the delivery and execution of SEO strategies to increase web traffic and improve client conversion rates.
  • Create responsive, high-quality web pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that deliver optimal user experiences across devices.
  • Collaborate with marketing stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective web solutions.
  • Identify areas for website improvement and proactively recommend enhancements to optimise usability and performance.
  • Ensure websites are optimised for speed, usability, and mobile responsiveness, adhering to industry standards.
  • Participate in ongoing innovation and continuous improvement initiatives, keeping abreast of emerging web technologies and trends.
  • Maintain version control and documentation for all development work, supporting best practices in software engineering.
