Overview
If you’re interested in a placement at Buckinghamshire Council, please register your interest by completing our Work Experience Expression of Interest.
We do not currently offer a centralised work experience programme, but we are happy to try and match you to a team who may be able to offer a placement.
Please note, we receive a high volume of requests for work experience, and we are only able to accommodate a small number of placements. Placement availability is entirely at the discretion of our managers and their team’s capacity. We can usually only accommodate placements of up to one week.
Occasionally, we may close this advert for a short period of time if we are experiencing a particularly high volume of applications.

About You
In order for us to give you the best chance of being matched with a team for a placement, you’ll need to let us know the following details in your Expression of Interest.
- The area of work you are interested in – we have hundreds of different teams at the council, so it’s important that you narrow your interest down to allow us to approach the right teams.
- The dates you would like to join us for a placement – the more flexible you are with dates, the more likely we will be to match you to a team.
- All locations you are able and willing to travel to for a placement - most office-based placements are in Aylesbury or High Wycombe, but a small number of practical and customer-facing placements may be located in the wider county.

Other information
We will review expressions of interest every 2 – 3 weeks and inform you via email if we can accommodate a placement.
We cannot accept requests for placements less than 8 weeks from the date the expression of interest is submitted. Applications requesting dates less than 8 weeks from the submission date will automatically be rejected.
We accept requests from all applicants, but will prioritise requests from individuals located in Buckinghamshire and locations directly on the border of the county.
If you are over 16 and placed in an area of work that requires a DBS, it is your responsibility to obtain a suitable DBS check. We are not able to cover the costs of any required safeguarding checks for work placements.
We can usually only accept placements of up to one week. If you require a placement longer than this, please contact [email protected].
This form is not suitable for requesting industry placements, T-level placements, supported internships or any form of longer-term, formal work placement.
