Workday Data Lead
Contract: Outside IR35
Duration: Contract until January 2027
Location: UK – London travel required on a sporadic basis
Travel: Reasonable travel expenses covered for travel from outside London
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Workday Data Lead to join a Phase 2 Workday project through to January 2027. This is a key role for an individual with strong hands-on experience leading Workday data workstreams across projects, deployments and implementations. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of Workday data, migration and deployment activities, and will be comfortable working across business and technical teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Strong Workday project/deployment experience is essential, as is proven Workday Data experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Workday Data workstream across Phase 2 project and deployment activities.
- Own and coordinate Workday data migration, conversion and deployment activities.
- Define and manage data requirements, mapping, transformation and validation.
- Work closely with Workday functional leads, technical teams, business stakeholders and project leadership.
- Lead data extraction, cleansing, transformation, loading and reconciliation activities.
- Support Workday deployments through testing, cutover and go-live.
- Develop and manage data migration plans, timelines, dependencies and risks.
- Ensure data quality, integrity and completeness throughout the project.
- Coordinate data testing and validation, resolving issues through to completion.
- Support cutover planning and execution, including data-related activities.
- Identify and manage data risks, issues and dependencies.
- Provide clear reporting and status updates to project leadership.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, governance and controls are maintained.

Essential Experience
- Significant Workday Data experience – essential.
- Strong experience working on Workday projects, implementations and/or deployments.
- Proven experience leading Workday data migration/conversion activities.
- Strong understanding of Workday data structures and data processes.
- Experience managing data through the full project lifecycle, from design and mapping through to testing, cutover and deployment.
- Experience working with multiple Workday stakeholders and cross-functional project teams.
- Strong project delivery and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate independently and take ownership of the Workday Data workstream.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience
- Experience across multiple Workday modules or large-scale Workday programmes.
- Experience supporting Workday go-lives and deployment/cutover activities.
- Experience working within complex enterprise environments.
- Previous experience in a Workday Data Lead or similar senior Workday data role.
Working Arrangement
This is a UK-based contract role, with sporadic travel to London required for key meetings, workshops and project activities. Candidates based outside London will have reasonable travel expenses covered where applicable. The contract is Outside IR35 and is expected to run until January 2027.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a proven Workday Data Lead who has worked on Workday projects and deployments and can take ownership of data activities from planning through to successful deployment. This role requires someone who can operate at both a strategic and delivery level, with the hands-on Workday data expertise needed to drive the Phase 2 project forward.
