Workday Financials Specialist

Location: Central London
Working pattern: Hybrid

An opportunity is available for an experienced Workday Financials Specialist to take ownership of the support, development, and optimisation of a key finance system.

Working within an established IT Applications team, you’ll partner with Finance, senior stakeholders, and technology colleagues to ensure Workday Financials continues to support business requirements effectively. The position combines hands-on system work with stakeholder engagement, reporting, process improvement, and future development.

Key Responsibilities

Workday Financials

  • Own the day-to-day configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of Workday Financials.
  • Investigate functional issues and provide effective solutions to users.
  • Review existing functionality and identify opportunities to improve processes, usability, and efficiency.
  • Ensure the platform continues to meet financial, operational, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor Workday releases and assess relevant new functionality.

Reporting & Data

  • Build, maintain, and improve Workday Financials reports and dashboards.
  • Turn business requirements into clear, accurate, and useful reporting solutions.
  • Work with Finance and business stakeholders to understand reporting needs.
  • Support reliable and consistent financial data across Workday reporting.
  • Help stakeholders use Workday information to support operational and strategic decisions.

Finance & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Finance teams, including Accounts Payable and management accounting.
  • Provide advice on Workday functionality and appropriate system solutions.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for Finance-related Workday queries.
  • Develop strong relationships with Finance, IT, and senior stakeholders.
  • Explain technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Training & User Support

  • Provide guidance to Workday users with varying levels of experience.
  • Support training and knowledge-sharing activities across Finance and other business areas.
  • Help users understand and make effective use of Workday functionality.
  • Contribute to documentation, processes, and user guidance.

Integrations

You’ll work alongside colleagues responsible for Workday integrations, providing functional input where financial processes are involved. This will include:

  • Supporting integration requirements and solution design.
  • Participating in testing and troubleshooting.
  • Helping resolve issues across Workday and connected systems.
  • Working with IT, Finance, and external partners to support effective end-to-end processes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the future development and roadmap of Workday Financials.
  • Identify opportunities for Finance process improvement and automation.
  • Support initiatives focused on Accounts Payable automation.
  • Explore the practical use of emerging and AI-enabled technologies.
  • Assess new Workday capabilities and recommend improvements.
  • Work with external Workday support specialists where required while maintaining ownership of functional outcomes.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Workday Financials, particularly configuration and functional support.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and how finance processes operate within Workday.
  • Strong experience creating Workday reports and dashboards.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into practical system solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with Finance and senior stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Experience or knowledge of Workday Financials integrations.
  • Experience with customer billing and/or intercompany processes.
  • Exposure to multi-entity or international finance environments.
  • Understanding of the Workday security model.
  • Knowledge of French accounting requirements.
  • Workday Pro certification in Financials and/or Reporting.
  • Experience supporting Finance automation or transformation projects.

About the Opportunity

This role offers genuine ownership of an important business application and the opportunity to influence how Workday Financials is used and developed. You’ll work closely with Finance and senior stakeholders while contributing to system improvements, automation, and new technology initiatives. It would suit someone who enjoys combining Workday expertise, financial knowledge, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement rather than simply providing reactive system support.

Occasional out-of-hours involvement may be required for major releases, testing, or critical business activity.
