About us
The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions.
The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We’ve removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher. This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy.
About the role
We are recruiting for a Workday Integration Architecture & Technical Development Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of enterprise systems here at the Francis Crick institute.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Workday technical leader to own the architecture, strategy and delivery of a complex integration landscape spanning People, Finance and connected enterprise systems. Combining hands on expertise with architectural oversight and technical leadership, you will define the future direction of Workday integrations, drive innovation, reduce technical debt and establish scalable, reusable solutions that support organisational growth.
Working at enterprise scale, you will lead the design and evolution of integrations across Workday Studio, Core Connectors, EIBs, APIs, Workday Web Services and emerging orchestration technologies, ensuring our platforms remain secure, reliable, well-governed and ready for the future. This is far more than a development role, it is a strategic architecture and leadership position for someone who wants to influence technology direction, deliver meaningful transformation and make a lasting impact within a highly collaborative, research driven environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
