The Workday Reporting Principal Consultant - AMS (Application Managed Services)
The Workday Reporting Principal Consultant - AMS (Application Managed Services) is a senior Workday Reporting and Analytics professional responsible for leading the delivery, optimisation, and continuous improvement of reporting solutions across a portfolio of AMS clients. Acting as a trusted advisor, this individual helps organisations maximise the value of their Workday investment through scalable reporting, analytics, dashboards, and data-driven insights.
The Principal Consultant combines deep reporting expertise with customer leadership, operational support, mentoring responsibilities, and solution governance. They provide functional leadership across multiple client environments, support complex enhancements and reporting initiatives, and contribute to the growth of the AMS practice through knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Workday Reporting and Analytics subject matter expert, providing strategic guidance and best practice recommendations across multiple AMS clients.
- Lead the design, enhancement, and optimisation of Workday reports, dashboards, analytics, and data insight solutions.
- Support day-to-day AMS activities, including incidents, service requests, enhancements, problem resolution, and escalation management.
- Develop complex reporting solutions using Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields, Matrix Reports, Composite Reports, Dashboards, Discovery Boards, and BIRT.
- Partner with client stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
- Provide leadership on complex reporting initiatives, managing solution decisions, risks, and dependencies.
- Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve reporting, analytics, security, and data-related issues.
- Support customers through Workday releases, assessing reporting impacts and recommending improvements.
- Advise clients on reporting strategy, governance, report rationalisation, automation, and self-service reporting capabilities.
- Support data extraction, validation, reporting security, tenant migrations, and reporting-related configuration activities.
- Mentor consultants and analysts, providing coaching, quality reviews, and functional leadership.
- Contribute to internal assets, accelerators, reporting standards, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, service optimisation, and enhanced business insights.
- Participate in on-call support and holiday coverage as required.

Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Active Workday Reporting Certification preferred.
- Additional certifications in HCM, Financials, Prism Analytics, or Reporting & Analytics are desirable.
- 5+ years of Workday Reporting and Analytics experience, including implementation and/or AMS support.
- Experience supporting post-production environments, managed services, or long-term client engagements.
- Deep expertise in Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields, Matrix Reports, Composite Reports, Dashboards, Discovery Boards, and BIRT.
- Experience supporting reporting solutions for Workday HCM and/or Workday Financials.
- Experience gathering requirements, solution design, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong consulting, stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor team members and provide functional leadership across multiple client engagements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced managed services environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Eligible for SC Clearance - you must have been a UK resident for the last five years and be legally entitled to work in the UK.
- Minimal travel required, but must be willing to travel on-site as needed.
