About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Workday Technical AMS Lead – Financials to lead technical application support, integration management and enhancement delivery for Workday Financials clients.
You will take ownership of the technical Application Managed Services (AMS) function, ensuring integrations, reporting, security and related technical components operate reliably and efficiently. You will manage incidents and problems, deliver enhancements, maintain service levels and work closely with finance, IT and third-party stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on Workday technical expertise with experience in AMS or post-go-live support, service management and technical team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Technical AMS & Service Delivery
- Lead the technical AMS service for Workday clients, managing incidents, problems, service requests and enhancements.
- Ensure issues are investigated and resolved within agreed service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Identify recurring issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement preventative improvements.
- Manage change requests from requirements gathering through development, testing and deployment.
- Mentor junior consultants and provide technical guidance to the AMS team.
Workday Integrations & Financial Systems
- Build, support, monitor and enhance Workday integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors and Web Services/APIs.
- Maintain Workday Financials interfaces with third-party finance, banking, procurement, planning and payroll systems.
- Support integrations with systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, NatWest Bankline, Workday Adaptive Planning, Atamis and IRIS.
- Troubleshoot integration failures, data errors, failed transactions and financial reconciliation issues.
- Work with third-party vendors and middleware teams to resolve integration issues.

Reporting, Analytics & Documents
- Develop and maintain Workday Advanced, Matrix and Composite reports.
- Support BIRT reports, document generation and PMD print layouts.
- Maintain Workday Prism Analytics data sources, datasets and pipelines.
- Use calculated fields and knowledge of the Workday Financial Data Model to support reporting and analytical requirements.
Security & Authentication
- Maintain Workday domain and business process security configurations, including role-based access.
- Support Single Sign-On (SSO) and troubleshoot authentication issues involving SAML and client identity providers.
- Ensure appropriate access controls and secure handling of financial and business data.
Release & Change Management
- Assess the impact of Workday's biannual releases on integrations, reports and security configurations.
- Plan and execute regression testing to ensure existing functionality remains stable.
- Maintain technical specifications, runbooks, knowledge articles and support documentation.
- Work with client finance and IT stakeholders to prioritise improvements and deliver changes effectively.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of Workday technical experience across integrations, reporting and security.
- Proven experience in Workday AMS, application support or post-go-live support, preferably in a lead or team-lead capacity.
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors and Workday Web Services/APIs.
- Experience with SOAP/REST APIs, XSLT, XML and JSON transformations.
- Strong Workday reporting knowledge, including Advanced, Matrix and Composite reports.
- Experience with BIRT reporting and PMD print layouts.
- Good understanding of Workday Financials, calculated fields and the Financial Data Model.
- Experience supporting Workday security, role-based access and SSO/SAML.
- Experience managing incidents, problem resolution, change requests and service delivery against SLAs.
- Strong troubleshooting skills covering integrations, data quality, reconciliation and production issues.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including engagement with finance and IT teams.
- Ability to mentor colleagues and act as a technical point of contact for clients.
- Must be eligible for UK SC Security Clearance.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting public-sector, government or regulated-sector organisations.
- Knowledge of public-sector finance, including fund accounting and grants.
- Experience integrating Workday Financials with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, banking platforms, Adaptive Planning, procurement systems or payroll platforms.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Jira or similar IT service-management tools.
- Familiarity with ITIL incident, problem and change-management practices.
- Experience assessing Workday release impacts and managing regression testing.
- Experience with Workday Prism Analytics.
Certifications
- Workday Integration Certification in Studio and/or Core Connectors — active or previously held.
- Workday Financials Certification.
- Workday Prism Analytics Certification.
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent service-management certification.
