Olive Tree Consulting is currently supporting a major British infrastructure consultancy to improve the way their leadership teams coordinate and communicate. We are looking for a Workflow Automation Assistant to help manage the digital rhythms and internal systems that make this work possible. This is a full-time, permanent position that is conducted entirely in a remote capacity, allowing you to contribute to a complex project from your own workspace.
About the role
This position exists to support Olive Tree's advisory practice by removing manual friction from our consultancy engagements. During our work with the British infrastructure consultancy, we generate significant amounts of data, action items, and structural notes. The role of the Workflow Automation Assistant is to ensure this information moves through our tools efficiently without manual intervention at every step. We believe that technology should support human habits rather than replace them, so you will focus on building small, practical bridges between tools like spreadsheets, project boards, and documentation software.
What you will do
- Build and maintain simple automations to link meeting notes with project tracking tools.
- Ensure that data remains consistent across different platforms, reducing the need for manual updates.
- Organize raw records into structured database entries that follow our specific management methods.
- Troubleshoot logic errors in automated flows to make sure no client action items are missed.
- Support the weekly reporting rhythm by preparing automated summaries of progress and pending decisions.
- Document the workflows you build so that the consultancy team understands how the information is moving.
- Manage the intake of new information from client sessions, ensuring it is categorized correctly from the start.
- Regularly audit our internal records to clean up outdated information or broken links.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we are looking for
We need someone who is naturally organized and enjoys creating order out of messy information. You should have a logical mindset and be comfortable thinking through "if this, then that" scenarios. Clear writing is essential for this role, as you will be responsible for naming conventions and brief internal guides. Since we work in a remote environment, you must be comfortable managing your own time and asking for clarification when a task is unclear. We value a calm approach to problem solving and a focus on getting the small details right every time.
Helpful background
This is an entry-level role, and we do not expect you to have years of professional experience in consultancy. We are looking for curiosity and a basic familiarity with digital tools. You might have a head start if you have:
- Basic knowledge of spreadsheet functions or how simple databases work.
- Experience using task management tools for personal projects or university work.
- A basic understanding of how different internet applications can be connected through logic tools.
- Excellent written communication skills with an emphasis on brevity and clarity.
- A general interest in how organizations work and how groups of people make decisions.
- The ability to follow technical instructions carefully while suggesting ways to make a process simpler.
What we offer
This is a paid position offering a salary that is competitive within the consulting support market. As a fully remote firm, we offer the flexibility to work from a location that suits you, provided you have a reliable internet connection. You will be part of a team that values quiet, focused work and meaningful results over corporate theater. We provide the opportunity to see how large-scale infrastructure projects are managed from the inside while learning the practical foundations of management consulting.

About Olive Tree
Olive Tree Consulting Group is a focused advisory practice that helps leadership teams solve recurring management issues. We typically work on the space between strategy and daily execution. A team can have very capable people and still find that decisions keep reopening, priorities stall, or responsibility remains unclear. These are rarely personality problems: they are structural habits that have not kept up with the company's growth.
We favor practical changes over large-scale transformation programs. Our work involves looking at how decisions are made, how meetings are run, and how ownership is recorded. We prefer useful written notes and clear ownership over polished presentations and vague alignment. Good advisory work should make things plainer and leave the team with a rhythm they can continue on their own.
The firm is built on the principle that memory is not a management system. We help teams create the smallest possible written record to support their work so that important follow-up does not depend on who was in the room or who has the best memory. The goal is a quieter management pattern that makes the existing work easier to lead.
