The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Report Writer to join our growing Technical Team based in Nottingham. Ideally, you will have experience in technical reporting, structural inspections and working at height environments however, we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm to develop a career within this specialist engineering sector, as full training will be provided.
The role involves preparing technical reports and quotations following inspections of a wide range of structures, including industrial chimneys, masts, church steeples, steel structures and associated working at height safety systems. You will also support the design, risk assessment and quotation of lightning protection systems, including structural LPS and surge protection systems, with the opportunity to gain accreditation in BS EN 62305.
This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical and commercially aware individual with strong Microsoft Office skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with clients. Working alongside experienced technical surveyors, you will develop specialist technical knowledge while building client relationships, contributing to project delivery and supporting business growth.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
Salary range: £26,436 to £35,380 per annum.
Essential Criteria
- Qualified to GCSE level – grades 9-4 / A*- C including Maths and English or equivalent
- BTEC/NVQ Level 2 qualification in construction or related subject
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in working at height
- Good IT skills, including strong Microsoft Office Knowledge
- Professional, reliable and safety conscious
- Genuine interest or background in engineering, construction or technical reporting
Desirable
- Previous report writing experience within construction, engineering or a technical environment
- Good understanding of working at height and health & safety regulations
- Working knowledge of construction methods, materials and legal regulations
- Experience in test and inspection and installation of systems
- Previous estimating experience
- Ability to support new business generation
