Our Workplace Health team plays a vital role in supporting the health, wellbeing and success of our diverse community, delivering high-quality occupational health and wellbeing services to thousands of staff.
We're now investing in the next chapter of our wellbeing provision by establishing a new in-house Workplace Counselling Service. This is a unique opportunity to shape a service from the ground up within one of the world's leading universities, creating a safe, accessible and evidence-informed service that supports colleagues to thrive throughout every stage of their working lives.
About the Role
As Workplace Counselling Lead, you'll have the opportunity to design, establish and lead UCL's new Workplace Counselling Service, creating a service that will make a lasting difference across a large, complex and globally recognised institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Head of Workplace Wellbeing, you'll combine strategic leadership with clinical expertise to develop the service model, governance framework, referral pathways and operational standards from inception.
- You'll recruit and lead a dedicated team, oversee clinical governance and quality assurance, and ensure the service delivers safe, ethical and effective support to colleagues across the university.
- Alongside maintaining a clinical caseload, you'll work collaboratively with colleagues across Workplace Health, HR and wider UCL to develop evidence-based approaches that strengthen organisational wellbeing.
- You'll also help shape preventative initiatives, influence policy and practice, and use service insight and data to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
