I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you
- You'll already have experience within Workplace Management and be looking for a role where you can take real ownership rather than simply keep things ticking over.
- You'll be someone who enjoys solving problems, spotting opportunities to improve processes and building relationships with people across every level of the business.
- You're naturally proactive, adaptable and happy switching between strategic thinking and rolling your sleeves up to get things done.
- Experience within a technology, scale-up or fast-paced business would be highly advantageous, as would exposure to workplace systems, office projects or business change.
- You'll also be curious about how technology – including AI and automation – can help improve operational efficiency, even if you're still developing your knowledge in this area.
- Most importantly, you'll genuinely understand the value an exceptional workplace has on employee engagement, collaboration and business performance, and be excited by the opportunity to help shape it.
