Job Description Summary: This is a full time permanent position.

Interviews to be held week commencing 31st August 2026.

PURPOSE:

To support and enable a disabled employee to do their job by providing assistance with workplace tasks and personal care.

Assisting with correct usage of IT software packages, preparing, and ensuring IT personal equipment is appropriately placed for member of staff to easily access.

Assisting with opening of applications to enable information to be printed, collecting printing from MFD and placing ready for reading and inputting, monitoring of information input ensuring it is accurate whilst remaining in the background advocating independence, self-determination and self-direction of assistance for the member of staff.

Attend training, which will allow you to efficiently train member of staff how to use Hull City Council’s IT applications; ensuring correct usage, assist with operator issues which may arise, reporting any technical problems to Service Desk.

Supporting urgent request for personal care when personal care assistants are not in attendance.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
  • Statutory Obligations – Equality Act 2010, to enable a disabled employee to do their job more by providing personal assistance with workplace task and personal care.
  • Enable effective communication from the requester to the employee when tasks are requested, understanding as to what is required, the process of the task, the frequency, and timescale/deadline; to enable to describe, demonstrate and monitor task is undertaken accurately as required.
  • Attend training sessions which will enable direction, ability to demonstrate and guide employee to use HCC IT applications, ensuring correct procedures of systems are followed so that the tasks output is that as to which is required by the requester.
  • Assist/support member of staff as and when required due to their limited dexterity and motor control when this impacts ability to undertake physical tasks i.e. placing paper/information to read or printing and collecting from MFD etc.
  • Ensure information which is input into IT systems is accurate and relevant to the task required, identifying any errors that may occur, ensuring they are corrected before finalisation.
  • Maintain confidentiality whilst monitoring and overseeing task completion, following GDPR guidelines.
  • Identify when tasks have been completed, escalating when employee has capacity to undertake further work to maximise efficiency.
  • As and when required provide urgent personal care assistance, ensuring that commissioned Adult Social Care, personal carer maintain their responsibilities.
  • The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on Hull City Council, as your employer and you as an employee of the council. In addition to the Councils overall duties, the post holder has personal responsibility for their own health, safety and wellbeing and that of other employees; additional and more specific responsibilities are identified in the Council’s Corporate H&S policy.
