About Us

Seasons Textiles is the leading supplier of curtains, soft furnishings, and antique textiles for hire to the film and TV industry. We also have a busy workroom where we make custom drapes, upholstery, accessories, and much more. We currently have a vacancy for a Workroom Assistant to join our friendly and creative team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for sewing, textiles, soft furnishings, and upholstery who is looking to build their skills in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You'll work alongside experienced makers, learning how to create high-quality curtains, pelmets, blinds, cushions, bed dressing, tablecloths, and other soft furnishings for film and television productions.

Full training and support will be provided as you develop your skills and confidence.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the making of curtains, blinds, cushions, pelmets, bed dressing, tablecloths, upholstery, and other soft furnishings.
  • Combining the use of industrial sewing machines with hand-finishing techniques.
  • Help prepare, repair, and maintain soft furnishings to a high standard.
  • Follow written instructions, measurements, drawings, and guidance from senior team members.
  • Support the workroom team by preparing fabrics, organizing materials, and maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to complete projects on time while maintaining quality.
  • Learn about different fabrics, finishes, and production techniques used within the film and TV industry.
  • Develop the confidence to solve problems, ask questions, and take on increasing responsibility over time.

Essential Requirements

  • A genuine interest in sewing, textiles, fashion, interiors, or soft furnishings.
  • Experience using a sewing machine (domestic or industrial).
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and take instruction.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
  • Positive attitude with a reliable and flexible approach.
  • Ability to work well as part of a busy team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to organize your workload and meet deadlines with support.

Desirable Requirements

  • A qualification or training in textiles, fashion, costume, upholstery, or a related subject.
  • An interest in interior furnishings, costume, theatre, or the film and TV industry.
  • Experience with craft, upholstery, or fabric-based projects.
