Role: Works Manager

Location: Camberley or Fleet

At Galliford Try, we're committed to delivering sustainable infrastructure that improves lives and supports communities. As part of our growing Thames Water programme, we're looking for two Works Managers to join our delivery team, with opportunities based in Camberley and Fleet.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced construction professional to play a key role in the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of civil engineering projects across the water sector.

Working closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers, Site Agents and site teams, you'll help drive operational excellence from early project development through to construction and handover, ensuring our projects are delivered safely, sustainably and right first time.

What you'll be doing:

As a Works Manager, you'll provide leadership, guidance and support across multiple projects, helping our teams deliver outstanding results for our clients and communities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of civil engineering works across multiple projects.
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Site Agents and General Foremen to ensure projects are appropriately resourced and effectively supervised.
  • Identifying and escalating resource requirements to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Providing advice and support on Temporary Works throughout all project phases.
  • Reviewing designs and technical information to identify constructability opportunities and risks.
  • Supporting project teams in resolving construction challenges and driving innovative solutions.
  • Ensuring all sites are established and maintained to Galliford Try and Thames Water standards.
  • Participating in Health & Safety pre-start meetings and promoting a positive safety culture.
  • Reviewing supply chain submissions and tender returns, identifying any gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Attending regular site and project progress meetings.
  • Carrying out regular site visits, inspections and SHE audits.
  • Championing quality standards through effective use of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), check sheets and company procedures.
  • Ensuring project teams understand and fulfil their responsibilities relating to safety, quality and environmental compliance.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and "Get It Right First Time" delivery.

About you:

We're interested in hearing from people who can bring relevant experience and a collaborative approach to project delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
