We are seeking an experienced Works Manager (Electrical) to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of a major nuclear infrastructure programme. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving construction performance across a high-profile project, helping to ensure the safe, efficient, and successful delivery of electrical works while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
Working as part of the Project Delivery Team, you will provide leadership, coordination, and management of electrical construction activities throughout the installation and commissioning phases. Acting as the accountable electrical construction lead, you will oversee multiple work fronts, manage delivery teams and subcontractors, and coordinate closely with engineering, commissioning, commercial, and client stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
This role offers the opportunity to influence the successful delivery of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes while developing your leadership experience within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and safely manage electrical construction activities across allocated projects or work scopes.
- Manage and provide direction to Senior Site Supervisors, Supervisors, Chargehands, direct labour, and subcontractors.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor labour, plant, materials, equipment, and subcontract resources.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project requirements, programme commitments, budgets, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate construction activities with engineering, commissioning, quality, commercial, and client teams.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, statutory obligations, electrical safety rules, and industry standards.
- Lead construction planning activities and support the development of work packs, RAMS, and delivery strategies.
- Review programme performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and delivery outcomes.
- Manage construction interfaces and proactively resolve delivery constraints and technical challenges.
- Monitor performance across multiple work fronts, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.
- Support the procurement and management of subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Lead safety briefings, inspections, and behavioural safety initiatives to promote a positive safety culture.
- Ensure inspections, permits, quality records, and construction documentation are completed and maintained.
- Participate in cost reviews and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, value, and project performance.
- Manage risks, issues, change, and programme impacts, escalating where appropriate.
- Develop and mentor supervisors, apprentices, and future leaders within the team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and delivery partners.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Experience delivering electrical construction works within major infrastructure, industrial, or engineering projects.
- Experience working in a Works Manager, Senior Supervisor, or similar leadership position.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams and subcontractors.
- Experience managing programme delivery, productivity, resource planning, and site performance.
- Experience coordinating construction activities with engineering, commissioning, and project delivery teams.
- Experience developing and implementing RAMS, work packs, and construction methodologies.
- Experience managing quality assurance, inspection, testing, and handover activities.
- Experience leading health, safety, and workforce engagement initiatives.
- Experience managing project risks, change, and delivery challenges.
- Strong understanding of BS7671 Wiring Regulations and electrical installation standards.
- Knowledge of electrical construction methodologies and industry best practice.
- Understanding of cable containment, installation, termination, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Understanding of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
- Knowledge of construction programme management and resource planning.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and inspection processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management reporting systems.
- Understanding of site safety legislation, CDM requirements, and construction regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- First Aid at Work.
- CSCS Black Card (Site Manager) or equivalent.
- Relevant project-specific safety training and authorisations.

- Experience working within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience delivering major electrical or MEICA construction work scopes.
- Experience supporting commissioning and operational readiness programmes.
- Experience working within NEC contract environments and change management processes.
- Experience using digital construction, reporting, and project management systems.
- Experience managing multiple construction teams across large and complex project portfolios.
- Experience developing supervisors, apprentices, and future managers.
- Experience collaborating directly with client delivery organisations and senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of HV/LV distribution systems, industrial installations, and temporary power systems.
- Membership of a relevant professional body, such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
