About The Role
Power Transmission & Distribution | Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project | Invergarry
Join Balfour Beatty's Power Transmission & Distribution team and help deliver one of Scotland's important electricity network reinforcement projects. As Works Manager, you'll take ownership of major construction activities, leading teams and subcontractors to safely deliver essential infrastructure that will support communities and future energy demands for decades to come.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced site leader with a background in Power T&D, utilities or major infrastructure projects who is looking to take on a high-profile role with genuine long-term career prospects across a growing portfolio of transmission and substation projects throughout the UK.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the safe delivery of multiple work packages on site.
- Managing and developing Construction Managers and Works Supervisors.
- Planning, coordinating and monitoring subcontractor activities.
- Driving programme performance through effective planning and short interval control.
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with quality, safety and environmental standards.
- Maintaining accurate project records, progress reporting and site documentation.
- Building strong relationships with project teams, subcontractors, customers and stakeholders.
- Leading weekly progress reviews and supporting project governance requirements.
- Managing labour, plant and material requirements.
- Championing continuous improvement and right-first-time delivery.
Who we're looking for
- Proven experience in a construction management role within civil engineering, utilities, power, infrastructure or a related sector.
- Strong understanding of safe systems of work and construction site management.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating complex site activities.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced project environment.
- Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving capabilities.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- CSCS Card
- SMSTS (or equivalent)
