Role Description
The Workshop Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Manchester. Day-to-day tasks include:
- Supporting the workshop team with the preparation, assembly, and finishing of staircase components
- Handling materials
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Assisting with basic machine operations under supervision

The role involves:
- Measuring and checking materials
- Packing and loading products for delivery
- Following safety procedures and quality checks
The Workshop Assistant will:
- Collaborate closely with joiners and supervisors
- Follow work instructions
- Help ensure projects are completed on schedule and to specification
Qualifications
- Practical workshop or construction experience, with the ability to use hand tools and basic power tools safely and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, including measuring, checking, and handling materials to meet quality standards.
- Good physical stamina and manual handling capability to lift, move, and position materials throughout the workday.
- Reliable time management and organizational skills to follow schedules, prioritize tasks, and maintain a tidy workspace.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to work constructively with supervisors and colleagues in a busy workshop environment.
- Commitment to health and safety practices, including following instructions, using protective equipment, and reporting hazards.
- Willingness to learn new techniques, receive training, and develop skills in joinery and staircase manufacturing.

Previous experience in a joinery, manufacturing, or construction environment and a relevant vocational qualification are beneficial but not essential.
