Workshop Assistant – Potential Apprenticeship Opportunity
Hollingsworth Engineering Ltd – Lanark
Hollingsworth Engineering is a growing precision engineering company based in Lanark. We are looking for a reliable and motivated Workshop Assistant to join our team.
No previous engineering experience is necessary. We are more interested in finding someone who is dependable, willing to work, keen to learn, and has a good attitude.
The role will initially be on a temporary/flexible basis, with the potential to develop into a permanent position and possible engineering apprenticeship for the right person.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting engineers with day-to-day workshop tasks
- Handling and moving materials
- Loading and unloading materials and components once trained
- Deburring and cleaning manufactured components
- Preparing parts between machining operations
- Packing and labelling finished components
- Preparing customer orders for dispatch
- Keeping work areas clean, tidy, and organized
- General workshop support as required

You don't need previous CNC or engineering experience — we'll show you what you need to know.
We're looking for someone who:
- Turns up on time and can be relied upon
- Is willing to work and get involved
- Has a positive attitude
- Is practical and comfortable working in a workshop environment
- Can follow instructions and work safely
- Takes pride in doing a job properly
- Is interested in learning new skills
This could be a particularly good opportunity for someone looking to get into engineering and manufacturing but who hasn't yet had the chance to gain experience.
