Job Responsibilities
The main job responsibilities and functions of the Workshop Assistant are listed below. The position may require additional duties/responsibilities that may not be outlined below, and specific functions are subject to change.
- Ensuring that the Health & Safety of not only themselves, but also that of all employees, visitors, and any other contractors is at the forefront of the daily work activities
- Ensuring that the workshop (including mezzanine area) and yard are always kept clean and tidy
- Assist Engineers when required
- Delivery and collection of various equipment / components
- Handle and transport materials and equipment
- Reporting accidents including near misses and spillages
- Reporting defective equipment to a Supervisor or Manager
- Carrying out checks to equipment when required or before use
- Carrying out weekly vehicle and Forklift Truck checks
- Keeping company vehicles clean inside and out
- Preparing goods for dispatch
- Loading and Unloading vehicles
- Receiving and checking of incoming goods and materials against PO’s
- Various workshop maintenance tasks
- Ensuring defective / non-conforming items / equipment are quarantined
- Dealing with various on-site contractors
- Preparing equipment / tooling for calibration

Qualifications & Requirements
The following qualifications/requirements are the minimum necessary to successfully perform this role:

- Experience of working within a Workshop environment
- Full valid driving license and good driving record are required
- Valid forklift license required
- There will be a requirement for working at height
- Previous experience using power tools
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
- Resourceful, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to adapt when required
- Ethical and trustworthy
The following would be advantageous but not essential as full training can/will be provided where necessary:
- IPAF / PASMA
- Abrasive Wheels Training
- Manual Handling Training
- Overhead Crane Training (Including Lifting & Slinging)
- CSCS card preferential (but not essential)
- Previous experience using power tools and machinery
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday (07:15 - 16:00)
Friday (07:15 - 11:45)
