Role Description
The Workshop Controller will oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring efficient scheduling, allocation, and completion of all service and repair work. This full-time, on-site role is based in Southend-On-Sea and involves supervising technicians, monitoring productivity, and maintaining high standards of work quality and safety. The role will coordinate closely with service advisors and aftersales teams to ensure timely communication, accurate job updates, and a positive customer experience.

- Managing workflow
- Maintaining workshop equipment and housekeeping standards
- Supporting diagnostic and technical queries
- Ensuring compliance with manufacturer and company guidelines
The Workshop Controller will also help drive customer satisfaction and workshop profitability through effective planning, resource management, and continuous process improvement.
Qualifications
- Strong focus on Customer Satisfaction, with the ability to manage expectations and deliver a consistently high-quality service experience.
- Proven experience working in automotive Workshops and/or Body Shops, including understanding of repair processes, workflows, and technical environments.
- Effective Communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with technicians, service advisors, management, and customers.
- Knowledge of Aftersales operations, including service scheduling, job costing, warranty procedures, and manufacturer standards.
- Previous experience in a workshop controller, senior technician, or service supervisory role within the automotive sector is strongly preferred.
- Ability to organize workloads, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Competence with dealer management systems and basic IT skills (e.g., email, spreadsheets, job booking systems).
- Relevant technical or automotive qualifications (e.g., NVQ/IMI in Motor Vehicle Maintenance) are advantageous.
- Valid UK driving license and the ability to work flexibly to meet operational needs.
