We are currently recruiting for an experienced Workshop Controller to join a successful and well-established franchised car dealership in Maidstone, Kent.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Workshop Controller, Senior Technician or experienced Technician looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in the day-to-day running of a high-volume, 16-technician workshop.

The Workshop

This is a Busy and Well-equipped Workshop with

  • 16 Vehicle Technicians
  • 2 Master Technicians
  • 4 Diagnostic Technicians
  • Approximately 45 vehicle throughputs per day
  • A strong and established workshop team
  • Excellent technical support and manufacturer training

Due to the volume of work, the Workshop Controller will play a crucial role in ensuring the department operates efficiently, technicians are fully productive and vehicles are completed to the highest possible standard.

The Role

As Workshop Controller, you will work closely with the Service Manager, Service Advisors and Technicians to ensure the workshop operates efficiently, productivity is maximised and vehicles are completed within agreed timescales.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Managing and allocating work to a team of 16 Technicians.
  • Monitoring workshop productivity, efficiency and performance.
  • Planning and prioritising the daily workload.
  • Ensuring approximately 45 vehicles per day are progressed efficiently through the workshop.
  • Supporting and coordinating the 2 Master Technicians and 4 Diagnostic Technicians.
  • Ensuring all jobs are completed within agreed timeframes.
  • Carrying out quality control checks and ensuring vehicles meet the required standards.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to Technicians where required.
  • Monitoring the progress of vehicles through the workshop and keeping the Service Team updated.
  • Ensuring manufacturer processes and dealership standards are followed.
  • Supporting the Service Manager with the day-to-day management of the workshop.
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping.
  • Motivating and developing the workshop team to achieve targets.

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a franchised automotive workshop environment, as a Workshop Controller or Workshop Manager.

You Will Need

  • Strong technical knowledge and a good understanding of modern vehicles.
  • Previous experience working within a busy dealership or high-volume automotive workshop.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage a substantial daily workload.
  • A strong focus on customer service, quality and productivity.
  • The confidence to lead, motivate and support a large team of Technicians.
  • A professional and positive approach to your work.
