Workshop Labourer

Location: Elland, West Yorkshire

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Arrangement: On-site attendance required every day

Andy Thornton's Ltd is seeking a Workshop Labourer to join our Architectural Metalwork Department.

This is an entry-level position within our busy architectural metalwork workshop, providing an opportunity for someone to gain practical experience and develop skills within a skilled fabrication environment.

Working alongside our experienced fabricators, you will provide general support across the workshop, helping with day-to-day tasks, maintaining a clean and organised working environment, and assisting with basic workshop operations.

The role would suit someone with a good attitude, a willingness to learn, and an interest in developing a career within manufacturing and metal fabrication. This is a workshop-based role, and daily on-site attendance is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe workshop environment.
  • Assist fabricators with general day-to-day tasks.
  • Help prepare, move, and organise materials.
  • Carry out basic workshop tasks, including the use of equipment such as bandsaws.
  • Support the loading, unloading, and handling of materials and finished components.
  • Prepare work areas and assist with general housekeeping duties.
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Provide support to the wider workshop team as required.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working in a workshop, manufacturing, fabrication, or construction environment.
  • Experience using basic hand tools or workshop equipment.
  • An interest in metalwork and fabrication processes.
