Workshop Machinist
Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
Salary: £36,050 per annum
Full-Time Role
Do you have experience within a machine shop or engineering workshop and enjoy producing quality work?
Looking to develop your skills within an international business supporting industries including aerospace, electronics and medical research?
Aspion Search is recruiting for a Senior Operations Team Member to join an established business in Huntingdon.
Working within the workshop team, you will use conventional machine shop equipment to manufacture products to customer specifications. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys variety and is keen to develop further skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate workshop equipment, including bandsaws, lathes, vertical mills, and guillotines.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and production sheets.
- Select the correct materials and manufacture items to the required specifications, keeping waste to a minimum.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality and customer requirements.
- Complete job documentation and update stock management systems accurately.
- Maintain a safe, tidy, and organized workshop, following safety procedures.
- Support the training of new and existing team members.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and safety.
- Support the wider production team to ensure customer orders are completed on time.

Skills & Experience:
- Engineering or machine shop experience and/or a relevant qualification.
- Experience using conventional workshop equipment.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings and follow technical instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Care and patience when handling fragile or delicate materials.
- Confidence using computer systems.
- A positive, proactive approach and strong teamwork skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn across the wider production environment.
- Knowledge of metals, polymers, or ceramics would be advantageous.
