Workshop / Operations Manager
As our Workshop / Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal hands-on leadership role, managing and supporting a talented team of engineers throughout the build and delivery of bespoke projects.
You will take full ownership of customer orders from the point of sale through to final sign-off, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with the sales team, you will oversee project planning, resource allocation, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and motivating the engineering team through all stages of project delivery.
- Taking ownership of sold projects from concept handover through to customer acceptance and sign-off.
- Monitoring and reporting project costs within our CRM system, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
- Developing and maintaining project schedules and regularly communicating progress to the Directors.
- Building strong relationships with internal suppliers, subcontractors, and external partners to ensure efficient project execution.
- Driving continuous improvement within workshop and operational processes.
- Ensuring compliance with quality, health & safety, and company standards.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive and hands-on leader with a strong technical background and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering projects.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Workshop Manager, Operations Manager, or in a similar technical leadership role.
- The ability to commute daily to our Oxfordshire facility.
- Strong electromechanical engineering knowledge, ideally supported by a relevant qualification (degree level preferred but not essential).
- Proven experience designing, building, or managing the manufacture of bespoke automated machinery or special-purpose equipment.
- Experience using CAD software for design review and project support.
- A good understanding of PLC-controlled machinery and automation systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with engineers, suppliers, customers, and senior management.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple projects and deadlines.
- A valid UK driving licence and the unrestricted right to work in the UK.
