Ready to Impact a Better Future?

At Serco, your skills don’t just fix vehicles — they keep essential services running safely and reliably every day.

We’re looking for a skilled Workshop Mechanic to join our expert fleet maintenance team. If you take pride in high-quality workmanship, enjoy problem-solving, and want a role where your expertise truly matters, this is your opportunity.

About the Role

As a Workshop Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and inspection of Serco commercial vehicles within our fleet maintenance facilities. All work will be carried out in line with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness.

You’ll play a vital role in keeping our fleet safe, compliant, and reliable. This is a hands-on position where your technical expertise will be used to carry out thorough inspections, diagnose and repair faults, and ensure vehicles fully meet DVSA standards.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be trusted to:

  • Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs across a range of commercial vehicles
  • Diagnose faults and deliver efficient, high-quality fixes
  • Work with the Workshop Supervisor to ensure all safety inspections are scheduled at least six months in advance, including statutory obligations
  • Perform brake testing and ensure DVSA compliance
  • Conduct road tests following repairs to confirm vehicles are safe and roadworthy
  • Maintain a clean, organised workshop environment to support safety and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
