The Role at a Glance
A varied, hands-on role working across different parts of our mobile phone refurbishment operation. You could be testing and grading phones, preparing devices and components, booking in stock, supporting workshop processes or helping with picking, packing and dispatch.
You don't need previous mobile phone or warehouse experience. We're looking for someone hardworking, dependable and comfortable with technology who learns quickly, thinks for themselves and speaks up when they spot a problem or a better way of doing something.
£25,000–£30,000 | Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm | Wednesfield, Wolverhampton | Full-time, on-site

The Big Phone Store is one of the UK's established mobile phone refurbishment and recycling companies. From our Wolverhampton operation, we buy, test, refurbish and sell thousands of mobile devices, supplying consumers and businesses across the UK.
We're looking for a Workshop Operative to become a hands-on part of our operation.
This isn't a job where you'll necessarily stand in the same place doing the same task every day. We're looking for capable, adaptable people who can work across different areas of the business, learn quickly, think for themselves and get things done.

- Testing mobile phones and checking their functionality
- Assessing and grading the condition and quality of devices
- Working alongside our technicians in the refurbishment and repair workshop
- Helping prepare devices and components for different stages of refurbishment
- Booking products into our computer systems
- Receiving, checking, sorting and organising stock
- Picking and packing customer orders
- Preparing orders for dispatch
- Using scanners, tablets and computer systems to update stock and order information
- Moving products between different operational departments
- Checking work for quality and identifying problems
- Supporting different teams to achieve daily targets
- Helping keep work areas organised, efficient and safe
The exact work will change. That's an important part of the job.
We're looking for people who are comfortable moving between different tasks and departments rather than expecting to do one narrowly defined job every day.
The Type of Person We're Looking for
Previous Mobile Phone, Refurbishment Or Warehouse Experience Isn't Essential.
We're more interested in your attitude, ability, work ethic and willingness to learn.
You'll need to be hard-working and dependable, comfortable working at pace and achieving targets, confident using a computer, comfortable with technology and willing to learn new systems, able to follow processes and instructions accurately, adaptable and willing to work across different departments, able to think for yourself and use common sense, team-focused, focused on quality as well as productivity, and able to work without constant supervision.

Opportunity to Progress
For the right person, this doesn't have to remain an operative role. As you learn different parts of the operation and demonstrate your ability, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility and potentially progress into positions such as Team Leader or Supervisor.
