Workshop Plant Fitter

Bedford (Commutable)

£20ph basic

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Workshop Plant Fitter to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to work on a variety of heavy plant machinery, including excavators, dumpers, loading shovels, dozers, and more. If you are passionate about plant maintenance and thrive in a workshop environment, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a wide range of heavy plant machinery.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including service reports and parts used.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
  • Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and customers when required.

Qualifications

  • NVQ in Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification is essential.
  • Proven experience working with heavy plant machinery, including excavators, dumpers, loading shovels, and dozers.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.

Day-to-Day

  • Conducting scheduled maintenance and servicing of plant machinery.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Ensuring all tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly.
  • Collaborating with the team to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Keeping the workshop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
