Pay: £30,000.00-£36,000.00 per year

Job Description:

Position: Workshop Manager (Full-Time, Permanent)
Location: Unit 27-28 Aberaman Industrial Estate, South Wales (on-site)
Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 depending on experience
Reports To: Directors
Manages: Approximately 8 workshop staff
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (standard). Saturday overtime during peak periods. Key Holder position.

About us

The Blackened Teeth is a British gothic home decor brand founded in 2018. We design and hand-make resin and plaster pieces - statement lighting, sculptural wall pieces, mirrors, and ornaments - for a substantial international audience. Everything is made in-house at our Aberaman workshop, where craftsmanship and detail come first.

The role

We're looking for a Workshop Manager to take ownership of our production floor and lead a team of around 8 makers across casting, finishing, assembly, and dispatch. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a desk job. You'll be on the floor, running the day-to-day, improving how we work, and holding the team to the quality standards our brand is built on. You'll work closely with the Directors to keep production aligned with deadlines, budgets, and launches.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Leading the team: Allocating daily work, running briefings, supporting and developing staff, addressing performance directly, and championing a positive, accountable workshop culture. You'll also support hiring and onboarding for new production and dispatch staff.
  • Productivity and KPIs: Setting daily, weekly, and monthly targets and working with the Directors to define KPIs covering output, fulfilment, error rates, quality, downtime, and waste. Running end-of-day round-ups and weekly reviews, identifying bottlenecks, and acting on them.
  • Workflow and scheduling: Managing the production schedule across all product lines, prioritising around launches and order demand, and keeping seasonal stock at par. Liaising with Customer Service when timelines or capacity shift.
  • Stock control: Weekly stock checks, ordering materials to budget through approved suppliers, checking deliveries, and managing supplier relationships.
  • Health, safety, and housekeeping: Owning H&S compliance across the workshop — COSHH, PPE, risk assessments, fire safety, manual handling. Maintaining records for inspections and audits, ensuring daily housekeeping and weekly deep cleans are completed and logged.
  • Quality assurance: Upholding finishing standards, catching defects early, overseeing final QC, and reducing rework.
  • Process and improvement: Building and maintaining SOPs for key tasks, mapping workflows, removing duplicated effort, and working toward Lean Manufacturing standards. Monitoring production costs and proposing efficiency upgrades.
  • Equipment: Scheduling maintenance, keeping logs, and ensuring tools and machinery are safe, efficient, and properly cared for.
  • Reporting: Regular reports to Directors on performance, KPIs, stock, and ongoing issues. Keeping HR documentation current and communication flowing between leadership and the floor.
  • Sustainability: Reducing waste, offcuts, and energy use, and supporting more sustainable sourcing and packaging.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
