About The Role
Balfour Beatty is looking for a Workshop Supervisor to join our Asset & Technology Solutions business in Shotts.
In this key operational role, you will oversee the effective, efficient and safe running of the workshop and its resources. You will manage workload, quality and productivity, ensuring that maintenance and repair activities are completed to the required standards while supporting an excellent service for our customers.
You will also carry out quality control checks and vehicle inspections, helping to maintain high standards across the workshop and ensuring compliance with relevant health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
What you'll be doing
As a Workshop Supervisor, Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Planning the team’s workload and delegating work appropriately
- Ensuring workshop and mobile technician jobs are opened and closed promptly
- Coordinating repair and maintenance activity when required, including providing cover in the absence of the Operations Manager
- Monitoring the quality and productivity of workshop operations
- Carrying out vehicle inspections and quality control checks
- Ensuring mandatory inspections and calibrations of workshop equipment are completed as scheduled
- Completing safety checks, toolbox talks, risk assessments and COSHH assessments
- Communicating safety updates to the team and gathering feedback
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental management systems
- Acting as the first point of contact for workshop-related queries
- Managing stocktakes and supporting accurate workshop administration
- Monitoring reissued work and vehicle-off-road status
- Supporting the achievement of HGV MOT pass-rate targets
- Helping to deliver winter maintenance activities within the required deadlines and standards
- Maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and working to exceed customer expectations
- Promoting safe, professional and consistent working practices across the team

Who we're looking for
You Will Have
- An HGV driving licence
- A City & Guilds qualification, or equivalent, in a relevant field, or the ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of skill
- A Certificate of Professional Competence, or the ability and willingness to obtain one
- Knowledge of specialist vehicles and winter maintenance operations
- An understanding of goods vehicle operator licensing regulations
- Strong administration and communication skills
- Good IT skills
- A customer-focused approach
- The ability to organise workloads, prioritise effectively and work under pressure
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and operational excellence
It Would Also Be Beneficial If You Have
- Previous winter maintenance experience
- Extensive knowledge of DVSA regulations and MOT testing standards and requirements
