Full Time/ 37 Hours Per Week/ Permanent
Play a key role in leading the development and delivery of Leicester City Council's serviced workspaces. Our Business and Innovation property portfolio provides managed workspace solutions that support start-ups, SMEs and scaling businesses establish and grow within priority business sectors. The facilities offer ready-to-use office, workshop and light industrial accommodation on flexible terms, with services such as reception support, meeting rooms, broadband, security and business support.

We are looking for a Workspace Development Manager to lead the Council's workspaces team and develop programmes in ensuring the delivery of high-quality workspace services that supports the knowledge economy sector businesses, contribute to economic growth and achieve positive outcomes for Leicester's business community, partners and stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You will be responsible for an establishment of around 15 people including direct reports.
  • You will inspire and empower teams by cultivating a culture of creativity and innovation, supporting professional growth, and enabling individuals to take ownership and make informed decisions that drive high performance.
  • Lead the development, implementation and review of strategies and policies that support the effective delivery and performance of workspaces. This includes oversight of tenancy management, commercial services, business and resource planning, budget monitoring and forecasting, debt management, customer service, communications and engagement, sector development, and event and exhibition programming.
  • The role involves regular collaboration with the wider Business and Innovation team, tenants, strategic partners, private and public sector stakeholders, and Council corporate support services.

What You’ll Need

  • The ideal applicant is proactive and demonstrates collaborative leadership in optimising processes and ways of working to ensure team systems, tools, and processes are optimised and aligned with service priorities.
  • You will also have experience in commercial building management (ideally multi-occupancy) and overseeing operational activities such as finance, administration, reception, and building-maintenance functions, including the writing and reviewing of associated policies and procedures.
  • Creative and innovative thinker with the ability to develop, champion, and market new ideas and services. Strong financial management capability, including budget oversight, forecasting, and financial reporting.

This full-time, permanent role is contracted at 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You’ll work closely with the team on-site while benefiting from the flexibility of hybrid working, in accordance with organisational policies and service needs. From time to time, some out-of-hours working may be required.
