Job Description
Job Title: Worship Leader
Employer: St John’s Goole
Responsible To: Priest-In-Charge
Contract: 5 hours per week (primarily Sunday), £14 per hour
About the Role
St John’s Goole
St John’s is an evangelical charismatic Parish revitalisation project in the town of Goole, in the Diocese of Sheffield. Over the last 6 years the church has been funded through additional Church of England funding. St John’s is a designated Resource Church and is beginning a new chapter partnering with Howden Benefice in the Diocese of York, supporting its revitalisation. The funding for this post is initially until the end of 2028.
Main Purpose of Role
The worship leader role will support the implementation of the vision and the ministry of St John’s by developing and providing high quality music and worship at the informal Sunday morning service, as well as selection of music (hymns) for the formal service.

This is a post which is funded by a grant from the National Church currently up to the end of 2028. There will be further opportunity for us to review and extend the role if further funding is available with the current expectation that this could be until 2031. Regular reviews on this will take place. We have a strong record for applications and grants, but we are not in a position to give guarantee.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- To help develop, encourage and facilitate high quality music and worship in a variety of traditions:
- Leading contemporary worship on Sundays which glorifies God and encourages intimacy with Jesus through the Holy Spirit
- Providing opportunities for congregation members to participate in worship
- To enable those with musical gifts to participate in and lead worship.
- To oversee the worship and AV / PA teams
- The role will require working on a Sunday and occasional evening work.
- Such other duties of a comparable nature as may be required.
