About Us

Welcome to St Michael’s Prep School and thank you for your interest in joining our wonderful team. St Michael’s Prep is a co-educational, inclusive school for children aged 2 to 13. Job Description

To care for and nurture children aged 5–13, ensuring their emotional and physical well‑being.

  • Plan, prepare and deliver fun, purposeful and age‑appropriate activities.
  • Engage children in play and structured activities that promote creativity, independence and social development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour.
  • Observe and record any notable behaviour, concerns or achievements, sharing information with the Wraparound Care Manager.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children in line with the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
  • Prepare and serve basic food for tea, following food hygiene and allergen‑awareness procedures.
  • Follow all dietary requirements and individual health plans.
  • Log incidents, accidents and concerns in line with the school’s Health and Safety policy.
  • Ensure resources, equipment and play areas are cleaned, maintained and stored appropriately.

Desired Criteria

  • GCSE Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification (or equivalent).
  • Level 1 Safeguarding Training (school can facilitate).
  • First Aid / Paediatric First Aid Certificate (school can facilitate).
  • Food Hygiene Level 1 (school can facilitate).
  • Experience working in a school.
  • Understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE).

Essential Criteria

  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS disclosure (or registration with the Update Service).
  • Experience working with children.
  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and professional boundaries with children.
  • Ability to instil confidence in parents regarding the care of their children.
