It offers a space for honest, nuanced storytelling about experiences that are often overlooked or underrepresented in mainstream conversations — the pressure to prove yourself twice over, being the only person like you in the room, and everything in between.
We publish candid reflections on navigating workplace expectations and pressures, but we're not limited to "women's issues" in the narrow sense — our writers cover whatever they genuinely want to say, as long as it's honest and well-crafted. Hear Her Out reaches a combined LinkedIn network of 3,000+, and is built to be a long-running space for dialogue and connection across backgrounds and career stages.

Role Description
We're looking for volunteer writers to contribute original stories, essays, interviews, and opinion pieces that align with Hear Her Out's editorial voice and mission. This is a part-time, voluntary, remote role. You write on your own timeline, on topics you choose, in close collaboration with our editorial team.
What you'll do:
- Pitch and develop original essays, features, or opinion pieces
- Research topics and, where relevant, conduct interviews to ground your writing
- Draft, revise, and refine pieces in collaboration with editors on structure, tone, and messaging
- Stay engaged with current conversations around gender, work, and identity
- Participate in occasional virtual editorial meetings, events, or workshops

Qualifications
- Strong writing and storytelling ability — essays, features, or opinion pieces
- Research and interviewing skills to develop well-informed, insightful content
- Editorial and proofreading instincts, with attention to clarity, structure, and consistency
- Ability to write within an established editorial voice while bringing original ideas and perspective
- Genuine interest in gender, work, identity, and contemporary cultural conversations
- Excellent English writing skills; additional languages a plus
- Prior experience in journalism, publishing, or content creation preferred but not required
